This beautiful, delicate heirloom shawl was handmade by Susan Hart of Tehkummah, on Manitoulin Island, in December 2018. It was created using pure Alpaca fleece from Kermit and Elmo, of Lobo Loco Alpacas in Sheguiandah, on Manitoulin Island.
Lobo Loco Alpacas is a local source of sustainable fibre products on Manitoulin. Their healthy and happy alpaca herd produces an abundance of soft durable fibres, which are finer than sheep’s wool and hypoallergenic. Lightweight and breathable, their products will keep you warm and cozy.
The Alpaca fleece was washed and carded to rovings by Masters Fibre Mill on St. Joseph Island. Susan then hand spun 1175 yards of 2 ply yarn and knit this gorgeous leaf motif shawl.
In total, it took Susan 120 hours to create this one-of-a-kind heirloom piece.
The shawl would make a lovely wedding accessory, gift, or addition to any wardrobe/collection.
